Please forgive me...

For I have been missing in action.  But trust me, I did think about you, a lot.  I had a few posts in mind but just not the time.  I hope we can put this past us and move on. 


This past week was a whirlwind, between waking up on Monday morning and having 2 baby fat rolls on my eyelid.  {I am serious folks, I drove my one eyed bad self to Urgent Care and was sent off to work with a eye cream and instructions to put a warm washcloth on it 3x daily} I was also given a tetanus shot {did you know you are supposed to get one every 10 years?} to which my left arm was red, very tender and very swollen and then ending my Tuesday evening with a dental appt. to which my darling dentist numbed me to the point my one good eye was numb and I had to wait a bit before I could drive home.  I started the week wearing my sunglasses indoors at work and gaining the new nickname, Hollywood to ending the week with a once in a lifetime opportunity.  


On Saturday the 9th I was asked if I was interested in dressing up some buffet tables and adding some vintage and new elements into a local hotels decor in their dining rooms.  I immediately jumped at the chance and after scouring local shops, picking through my garage full of finds, browsing for inspiration pieces and potting plants in the dark on Friday night.  Here are the photos from my Saturday adventure.  I do have to admit it was a little hard to part with some of my finds but I know that I will find them again down the road.  


I would like to say a HUGE thank you to Lu & Clem for your enthusiasm and working your chainsaw magic.  It was a huge hit!!  Thank you. 

I planted sedums and different types of ferns in vintage silver pieces.  

I stamped a knife and fork on a dictionary page with the word 'food' on it.  There is one of the word birds that I made for this.  I just love those guys.

I also painted the back of this glassless shadowbox and glued the vintage serving spoon inside. 

These are 3 of the 5 wood rounds in assorted heigth that turned out amazing.  I am off hunting for more stumps to cut.

The Craft Corner

Hope you all had a relaxing, sunshine filled weekend!  I sure did.  

This evening I took photos of my dining room turned craft room.  When we first moved into this house 3 years ago I had a formal dining room in here and it started to be the dumping ground for everything.  Shoes, papers, blankets, makeshift pantry, decorating items - you name it.  The husband and I decided to turn it into a craft room Martha would be proud of.  This is my favorite area in the room, the big white craft cube.  

Here it is in all it's glory.  Best $129 ever spent for a piece of furniture.  Sorry about the extension cord still plugged in, keeping it real people.  Over the last month that I was off work I cleaned out, dusted and revamped this area.  It is fun to change the look of it from time to time.  This time I added a few of my many vintage cake stands.  

The embellished wedding cake and bird was given to me at my bridal shower and has the word, bliss on it (my favorite word.)  It is sitting on an ivory ironstone cake stand I found recently. 

This is my absolute favorite Fostoria Cake Stand, a gift from my mom from my wedding.  She has the same one also.   The black and white photo is of Jay's dad, Lou.  Jay and I honeymooned at the Hotel Del Coronado in California and the week we returned from there we stumbled across this adorable HDC snow globe at the thrift store.  What are the odds? 

If you know me then you know I love anything with prisms.  Found this beauty at you guessed it...Goodwill!   Just a few knick knacks on top and a small glass jar filled with old boggle letters. 

Love this vintage cake stand, I also have the smaller matching one.  This cute white teacup is stamped Pottery Barn on the bottom and is currently storing my collection of paperclips =)  Jay spray painted the bird white and this is his current home.  I know there is no picture in the frame, just being real.  I tend to buy frames, find their home inside my home and it then takes me forever (no joke) to put a picture inside.  Why?  I have no idea.  I have plenty of pictures to choose from.  If you would like to come over and help me please do! 

So what do you think of our Nest Egg???  Couldn't pass this beauty up, currently it has $11.28 in it but whose counting?  Behind is my collection of Martha Stewart books. 

Love me some big glass jars filled with scrabble letters and my old dented metal piggy bank globe.  

I like to fill old salt and pepper shakers with vintage glitter.   For some reason I have acquired a few of the DeVilbiss vaporizer glass jars.  I think I like them because, 1. looks the word bliss is in it and 2. it is old, glass and I can put stuff in it.  Plus they are cheap. This one is holding Josie's craft scissors. 

This shelf is kind of boring, I need to switch it up.  A white Fiesta Millenium pitcher and an  ivory Haeger planter.  I do plan on planting something in it, just give me another few weeks.   

What do we have here?  Another glass jar filled with new and old buttons.  Let me know if you are looking for  one in particular!  And some more Martha books.  Don't know why I was just drawn to the cute white glass airplane mug.  Would be cute in a baby's room on a shelf.

This has nothing to do with the craft room but I had to add this in.  On Saturday we went to the Holland Happening Parade in Oak Harbor.  Maybe tomorrow I will post more about the fabulous town of OH.
