Finds from last Saturday

These finds should have been posted last weekend, this is the contraband my mom and I found on our way to and from Birch Bay last Saturday.
Yes more silverware & sheet music.  I loved this little black plastic sign I picked up for only .99, I plan on hanging that next in our spare room.

An old money bag, my mom had the great thought of turning it into a small pillow.

Yes more corks.  Wait until you see the project I have planned.

I have a little globe that is the same as these two.  I couldnt resist.

My mom found this adorable children's lunchpack at a thrift store.  I love anything with letters and the alphabet.

TBKC 1953 - I am going to see what if I can find what the initials are for.

I was so excited when I found this.  I had seen them advertised in Real Simple and Country Living and now I have one for half the price.  It is a ceramic strawberry basket.

My mom found this framed old radiator grate. It is heavy.

Three Iron Stone platters.

8 of these pretty soup bowls - I love to mix and match china.

Two new owl friends to grace my collection.

Yes it has been awhile...

Tune In for another installment of Jay's sleep talking.

'So you moved a piece of furniture and found this?'

'Yababdabadabdabadab well I guess I don't even know.'

'What game is it and how long does it take?'

'That is sweet.'

'Glad he's out of my hair for a bit.'

'Yeah, you can't park in front of the mailboxes ya know.'

'Who do you have working on my chow mein?'

'Is there chicken for tonight?'

'That's photoshopped.'

'You know youre gonna get in trouble?'

'Listen. Right because I was thinking a marriage there.  You know you know.'

'That's horrible but I loved it.'

Date night

Friday night date night included a trip to Goodwill and dinner at one of our favorite local restaurants.  If you are ever in the Covington area you must try Sena's Mongolian Grill.  Jay thinks he is a 'preferred' customer there since the lady always chats with us.  Here are our finds from that night.

I am never one to pass up on a bitdcage.

Or on Fiestaware, this is Josie's favorite color, Cobalt.  I was lucky enough to find her 2 cups and saucers for less than $3 for all 4 pieces. I am collecting it for her for when she moves out.

Don't really know what this is or was.  But I thought it was cool.

Napkin rings, they look like bird nests.

These were only .29 each.  Score!

Found these three cute little white plates.  I am planning on gluing them to small glass candlestick holders and using them as mini cupcake pedestals.

MMMM....mongolian.

Birch Bay Baby Shower

289 miles
14 hours
7 thrift and antique stores
1 fabulous baby shower
0 speeding tickets
= a wonderful day spent with my mom, family and friends.

Yesterday my mom and I worked our way up to Birch Bay for my cousin's baby shower.  What a treat it was to spend the afternoon with such fun people, delicious food and to celebrate Katie and her baby boy.

If you have children or are planning on attending a baby shower soon, you have got to check out this guy.  He is so soft and cuddly, huge (53 inches) and a rocking steal at only $30, there are a few left at Costco.  These 2 bear friends, named Zeb or Mike (names given to him by his new owners, Katie and Katrina) spent the week in the backseat of my car, and I received a lot of awkward stares, kids pointing and laughs from people.  These two guys will be jumped on, squeezed and drooled upon for sure.

The Jorgenson's new beach house on Birch Bay.  As you can see the sun was shining, there was a breeze in the air and it was just breathtaking.

I am making this asian noodle salad with peanut sauce for dinner tonight.  It was so delicious.  Thank you Jen and Debbie!

Dessert table.  It was all delicious.

Katie opening her framed birthdate canvas I made for her.  And her new bear friend, Zeb next to her.

Jacob and Jason made this awesome sign.

Don't forget to enter the giveaway for your very own birthdate canvas it ends tonight at 8p.m.

Please forgive me...

For I have been missing in action.  But trust me, I did think about you, a lot.  I had a few posts in mind but just not the time.  I hope we can put this past us and move on.

This past week was a whirlwind, between waking up on Monday morning and having 2 baby fat rolls on my eyelid.  {I am serious folks, I drove my one eyed bad self to Urgent Care and was sent off to work with a eye cream and instructions to put a warm washcloth on it 3x daily} I was also given a tetanus shot {did you know you are supposed to get one every 10 years?} to which my left arm was red, very tender and very swollen and then ending my Tuesday evening with a dental appt. to which my darling dentist numbed me to the point my one good eye was numb and I had to wait a bit before I could drive home.  I started the week wearing my sunglasses indoors at work and gaining the new nickname, Hollywood to ending the week with a once in a lifetime opportunity.

On Saturday the 9th I was asked if I was interested in dressing up some buffet tables and adding some vintage and new elements into a local hotels decor in their dining rooms.  I immediately jumped at the chance and after scouring local shops, picking through my garage full of finds, browsing for inspiration pieces and potting plants in the dark on Friday night.  Here are the photos from my Saturday adventure.  I do have to admit it was a little hard to part with some of my finds but I know that I will find them again down the road.

I would like to say a HUGE thank you to Lu & Clem for your enthusiasm and working your chainsaw magic.  It was a huge hit!!  Thank you.

I planted sedums and different types of ferns in vintage silver pieces.

I stamped a knife and fork on a dictionary page with the word 'food' on it.  There is one of the word birds that I made for this.  I just love those guys.

This was my favorite planter, it reads:
1981
Mushroom King
Chuck Ikeda

I also painted the back of this glassless shadowbox and glued the vintage serving spoon inside.

These are 3 of the 5 wood rounds in assorted heigth that turned out amazing.  I am off hunting for more stumps to cut.

I am off to put together my first ever blog giveaway.  Stay tuned.
