What we found this weekend

Are you ready for these finds?
This past Sunday I was determined not to get out of my sweats and not to leave the house. I needed to play some serious catch up on laundry, grocery shopping, bill paying, vacuuming and everything else.  Lucky for me I had the majority of the day to myself. A rare occurence in this house.

I ran down the street with Alison after we closed the shop on Saturday and I picked up a few things.
Jay worked on Sunday and stopped at the thrift store by his work and had a full cart.  I loved that he was sending pictures to me while I was home being lazy.

Jay picked up these two old briefcases.
They are both engraved with the same initials.

Fabulous vintage Samsonite suitcase.
Let's pretend that this was the lawyer's luggage for when he had to travel.

I picked this up and just love it.
I cannot wait to paint it.
Are you feeling white or black for this one?

My mom and I spied this a few weekends back and when I was back in the store on Saturday I asked how much and she said
if you buy it now, $4.
SOLD!

It is red, round and has writing on it.
So yes I had to have it!
The bread box underneath will be getting a makeover.

Jay picked up this picture originally just for the frame.
He started looking at the picture and googled the artists name, Tyrus Wong and then called his mom.
She happens to be an artist in California.

This is Jay on the phone with his mom, googling information and trying to determine if the painting is real or a repro.

He also found these two metal tables.
They match and are also very cool becacuse they fold up.
They are not old, need a good cleaning but they are cool.

American Pickers

Jay loves the show, American Pickers.
Well this weekend he was the star of his own picker show.
My mom took us to an estate sale where she was on Friday and scored some fanastic finds. We spied some furniture and old wood up in the rafters of this garage and told Jay he could take down whatever he wanted.  So he found a ladder and went to town.  Unfortunately we didn't find anything great, but we did come home with a few things.

We spent the whole weekend at my parents, and turned their garage into a painting shop.  In all we had 17 pieces there that we were working on.

Typically I tend to paint everything white or black, so I am preparing you for some new and fun colors.
All the pieces we were working on will be heading to the shop, The Modern Cottage Company hopefully within the next week or two.
I will also be saving a few of them for the Ruffles and Rust Show, May 11th & 12th.

Sunday brought close to 4" of snow in Renton, but by the time we drove home the sun was shining and the snow was melting.

What did you do this weekend?

Thrifting Thursday

Tomorrow is Friday!!!
Can you tell that I am excited?
My weekend consists of painting, grocery shopping, painting, spending some time on Pinterest, painting some more, a load of laundry or two, checking on my paint that should hopefully be drying nicely and playing some Sequence.

I love the shape of this end table.
What color should I paint her?

I love this little bookshelf. Couldn't you see this in a childs room with their favorite books in it.

Love this tall globe.
I am not one to pass on old globes.
I plan to paint the base.

A Ball drink dispenser.
I already have one and will have this one for sale soon.
Perfect for summertime BBQ's.

We have been addicted to Sequence Dice now we can play the real version. Come on over if you want to play with us!

Tune in tomorrow for Favorite Recipe Friday!

And we're off....

I was itching to hit some thrift stores after our snow and ice storm. My mom was the first one to hop in the car so we were off.

You know I am a sucker for old books.
I have a new library table in the works that Jay and I are making and these will look great in it.

Found the two cute green and white Ikea trays, old suitcase (I love it when people send me ideas and links for cool projects they find, I know exactly what I am going to do with this, thanks Nicole!)small stool to repaint, old (ugly) pattern to cut up ad misc. odds and ends.

Great metal tiered cart.
I am definately ripping the fake wood grain sticker off the top.

Love this PartyLite birdcage!

I was on the fence about this guy.
But for $2.99 I was sold.
Black or white?

I am thinking turquoise for this stool.
What do you think?

Found this on my camera when I uploaded my photos.
My car encased in ice.
And it stayed this way for about a week.

I'm back from P-Town

I had a blast in Oregon.
On Thursday morning my mom and I drove down to Portland, went shopping at Washington Square Mall and a bunch of other little shops.  I was able to buy almost everything on sale and my list is all checked off.  I am done shopping.  Now on to the wrapping and baking.
I left Saturday morning and didn't make it home until about 5 p.m. I hit a bunch of thrift shops in Vancouver and Olympia.  I walked down one of my favorite antique rows in Centralia and even managed to squeeze a few more finds in the car.

Are you in need of a whisk? Or a cupcake?

The Oh So Fabulous, Justin & Burks shoppe in Sellwood.
We were even given champagne when we walked in.
This chandelier was humongous and breathtaking!

WANT:
Please if you ever come across an old school pull down map, let me know. This was found in the Stars Antique Mall in Portland.
Pretty fabulous.

This is my other want.
I just loved it.
I however didn't love the $695 price tag.
Again if you ever run across one please let me know.

Here are my finds.
I picked up these beauties in Centralia.
If you have been following my blog then you know I have a thing for old rusty fish and tackle or tool boxes.
The bottom one was calling out to me to buy it.
I got all the way to my car and then realized if I didn't get it now, I would still be thinking about it when I got home.

It seems I may have a little globe addiction going on right now.  And it doesn't help that Jay keeps telling me to keep them.  I was wanting to give this to someone for a gift.  We will see.

Not typically something I would pick up but it was cute. I will save it for the next Junk Show.

This will also go into my save for the next RR show.

Picked up this baby from an Estate Sale in Vancouver for a mere $3.50.  This will be perfect for a little vignette in my living room.

Let's try something new shall we?

Today I was lucky to break out of work early.
And guess what I did?
Got a car wash, gas (would you believe $3.38 a gallon?), filled tires with air and then surprised the hubs and teenager when I walked in the door at 3pm instead of 5:30.

I immediately sent them off to a movie, I perused Pinterest for a bit, then decided to have a glass of wine and take a hot bath.  Which made me tired and I took an hour nap.

Now they are on their way home and I am making BLT's for dinner.

I have tomorrow and Friday off and my mom and I are driving to Portland to do some Christmas shopping.  I can't wait to hit up the thrift stores down there.

I feel like being a bit random here.... let's try this out.
I have randomly selected 5 numbers that I will then go into my iPhoto library and post.  I have no idea what they may be, but let's see what we get.

I about died when this one popped up.  This was taken at a parade in Oak Harbor and I thought it was funny.

Boys will be boys.
Our annual Fourth of July camping trip, 2011.

Our wedding day, August 2008.

Ha!  I thought about deleting this one when it came up. My sister wanted a bridal shower theme of lingerie and candles, so guess what she got a lot of? I asked everyone to bring a pair of underwear and I pinned them around and she had to guess who brought which pair.  It was really funny to see who picked what.

This was one of my favorite pieces I have ever found.  It is a vintage candy counter. I brought this to the Snohomish Arts & Antique Faire where a lucky family picked it up.  I still run into them occasionally at the Ruffles and Rust Show.

Leaving on a jet plane

Hope you all had a fabulous Thanksgiving holiday.  I have been busy shopping, eating, creating new dishes {cant wait to share with you}, playing games and nursing an eye infection. I seem to be all better now. Please bear with me for this will be a short post.  I will return with some great ones this week. I picked up these metal beauties at Goodwill.  I just love them.  They are stamped 1975 on the back.

Have you downloaded that app yet? No? You must.  I love it!
