Violetta's Baby Shower mock up

My sister is throwing a baby shower for her friend Violeta, who is expecting her first child, a daughter.

It has been awhile since I have been on Pinterest and thought I would do a mock up of a shower for her.
The colors my sister has chosen are brown, hot pink and chartreuse.
Hope you like these Laurie.

Let's start with the ceiling decor.
I love the simplicity of the tissue paper pompom's.  They are super inexpensive and Hallmark has lots of great tissue paper to choose from.
These would look great hanging around the inside of my sister's house.  She has a large open living, dining, kitchen area with vaulted ceilings.
Picture these in the three colors.

I would make a variety of tea sandwiches.
These are cucumber tea sandwiches.  A little different than the typical ones I make but they look ddelicious.

I would also make these, Curried Egg Tea Sandwiches.

These are always a huge hit when I make these.  Plus the presentation is fun.
Rainbow Fruit skewers with vanilla cinnamon yogurt dip.

This cake would be on a vintage glass cake plate, I would have the icing in a pink color to go with the pink, brown and chartreuse color theme.
This fabulous cake was made by Bridgette, owner of A Sweet Affair.
Here is the link to her facebook page.

Had to share these.
I am in love.
Please save this idea for my future baby shower.
Swoon.

This is where I would love to host this shower.
One can dream.

Next I would really like a brown chevron tablecloth.  Can you whip one up, Laurie?  {kidding, but seriously can you?}
A huge YES to drinks in glass drink dispensers and striped straws.

This is beautiful.
Again think of this but in Violetta's colors.
Love the way the table is set.

Doesn't this pink punch look wonderful.
I would like a glass of it now please.
Pineapple juice, Frozen pink lemonade, ginger ale and strawberry ice cream. Easy enough.
I would make this punch....

...and serve in glasses with these fantastic lime green striped straws.

And last but not least order one of these fabulous diaper cakes in the flower theme from Little Britches Bakery.

Let me know if you need help putting any of this together.
Whatever you choose, it will be lovely.

Good night all. I am off to browse through Pinterest some more.

Siri and her iChili 4S

My parents hosted their 5th Annual Chili Cookoff this weekend.
There was a tie with Marc and Kristen's 'A Chili Thanksgiving' chili and the Bale family with their Chipotle Cheeto Chili.  Complete with Cheetos as a garnish.  They were both delicious. We had a blind taste test with Robby who arrived just after voting and he was the tie breaker.  With the win going to Marc & Kristen for their 4th overall win for Best Chili.

Below my parents won for best name.
iChili 4S
So very creative since most of us have Siri in our back pocket.
If you have the new 4S - ask her....
"How much wood could a wood chuck chuck if a wood chuck could chuck wood?"  She has three very different and very funny answers.

We started the night off with some Whipped Vodka Jello shots.

Here is First Place Thanksgiving Chili

Second runner up, Cheetos Chipotle Chili

This is what happens when you have too many jello shots, wine, beer and some very up for anything friends and family.

Kristen and I came up with the bright idea to 'fork' our friends yard.  Unfortunately all we could find was some plastic spoons, skewers and Dixie cups. We talked Marc and Jay into driving us to the Bales.

This is at 11pm, it was freezing and we were trying so hard not to laugh while we were doing this.  They were still up so we knew we needed to be quiet and move fast.

We left this as evidence as to who was there.

Birch Bay Baby Shower

289 miles
14 hours
7 thrift and antique stores
1 fabulous baby shower
0 speeding tickets
= a wonderful day spent with my mom, family and friends.

Yesterday my mom and I worked our way up to Birch Bay for my cousin's baby shower.  What a treat it was to spend the afternoon with such fun people, delicious food and to celebrate Katie and her baby boy.

If you have children or are planning on attending a baby shower soon, you have got to check out this guy.  He is so soft and cuddly, huge (53 inches) and a rocking steal at only $30, there are a few left at Costco.  These 2 bear friends, named Zeb or Mike (names given to him by his new owners, Katie and Katrina) spent the week in the backseat of my car, and I received a lot of awkward stares, kids pointing and laughs from people.  These two guys will be jumped on, squeezed and drooled upon for sure.

The Jorgenson's new beach house on Birch Bay.  As you can see the sun was shining, there was a breeze in the air and it was just breathtaking.

I am making this asian noodle salad with peanut sauce for dinner tonight.  It was so delicious.  Thank you Jen and Debbie!

Dessert table.  It was all delicious.

Katie opening her framed birthdate canvas I made for her.  And her new bear friend, Zeb next to her.

Jacob and Jason made this awesome sign.

Don't forget to enter the giveaway for your very own birthdate canvas it ends tonight at 8p.m.

A week's worth of reading and outfits

My dear friend Lindsay (Lulu) had her baby shower this weekend.  I love to give books and onesies with funny sayings or pictures on them.  I shopped around at the local Goodwill and found 7 baby books and 7 onesies and some little pants or jeans.  When looking for the books, I make sure to look at the edges that they are nice and clean, no teeth marks, no inscriptions on the inside etc.  (I always use a Clorox wipe on the books and wash the clothes prior to wrapping.  Next I made seven piles of the books and the outfits and then I decorated each bag with a day of the week on it. I used my Silhouette machine to make some shapes and used stickers and ribbon that I already had.  At the end you have a different bag for every day of the week which makes for a unique gift and a fun one to open.

I also found an adorable ruffled bikini and flip flops from Old Navy and packed them into a cute beach bucket and added 2 little beach shovels and the card.  Every girl should have a cute bikini ~ let me buy your first one!

Me and Lulu!  Can't wait to meet Little Lily Grace.

Total spent on the books and clothing- $12.50
(Not including the Bikini Beach Bucket)

Best EVER drink recipe

If you are in need of a drink recipe for ANY event use this recipe!  I promise you that everyone there will drink it and will drink plenty of it.  If this is untrue then I will come over and drink the leftovers.  Seriously, just try it.

Leslie's Gin Bucket Recipe

Equal parts of these 3 ingredients.

1 can Limeade
Fill limeade can with Ginger Ale or 7Up
Then fill again with your choice of Gin

I added some ice, and sliced lemons and limes
to dress it up for the bridal shower.

Enjoy and please don't drink and drive.
